It Felt Good

It Felt Good

I preached last night. In what seemed like a life time. I preached. It felt good deep inside of my chest, my heart. It felt good. It leapt out of me like the surprising fright of a loosed jack-in-the-box. My audience attentive, listening intently, gaining understanding and insight. They affirmed what seemed like new knowledge to the three that stood before me. You could see it in their eyes and in their nods. It felt good. It was horrifying. I felt dirty, like an impostor. That feeling you get after having sex as a teenager having been told your whole life that you shouldn’t have sex, sex is bad, bad things happen after sex. I felt that sting, that horrible, shameful sting. It has not made me want to do better, to clean up my life, to “do the right thing”. To walk with Jesus once more. No, it makes me feel broken because of the echoes of the guilt programming of my clerical past. Possibly not of any one person’s doing but of the collective. That moment of preaching was involuntary like getting an erection in your 5th period math class in High School. Nothing triggered it, a pretty girl did not walk by, I was thinking about math for christ’s sake. The words were in me and projected out of me like glorious, stupendous, religious vomit. It felt good. Like some sort of verbal and spiritual masturbation and then…the guilt. I awoke to a post on my wall. “Wanted you to know I’m prayin for you. Hope all is well. God put you on my heart this mornin. Love you.” What trickery is this? What cosmically twisted words are these? I respond with a “Cool, thanks :D”. Not expressing my deep seated horror at a statement tike that. Don’t talk to the bad guy. The cosmic Daddy that delights in spanking, disciplining, hurting his children. Don’t tell on me. Damn it. He’s not even my Dad. He said he fucking adopted me. Telling me that this is some sort of greater love than that of my real Dad. This is not the God of my forefathers but that of the Hebrews. Not the kids down the street but on the other side of the fucking world. The cosmic dictator that has thrown more bolts of disaster than Zeus ever could. The echoes. The echoes. The echoes of the past ring loud and clear. “If you see anything other than a God of the compassion in the bible, then you need to re read the bible.” At every glance, every pass, every stroke of the scribes pen that has been translated and mistranslated again and again. I see wrath, anger, hatred, favoritism, exclusivity, and elitism. “Who are you to judge God and His word?” Who am I not but that which God created me. To think intuitively, to not be duped. To not be bamboozled or taken advantage of. My GOD, dear judgmental people, I am not of your ilk. I don’t think like you, I never have. I don’t get your twisted form of religiosity cloaked in the guise of “relationship”. I don’t want your chains, those painfully scarring chains. I’ve seen the church and as Israel was in the past so she is now…a whore. The...

Kelly Pajak and I

My friend Kelly Pajak and I collaborated on this project. This is his timelapse photography, check him out at www.MountainMagickPhotography.com. He is such a gifted photographer! I recorded this piece “The Tale of Tumbling Tree” for this project with my new Native American Flute in the Key of E 432hz. Yes I actually made the flute, seen below, out of pine wood then burned the totem and body and finished with a satin polyurethane. I hope you enjoy what we put together. 😀 [Show as...

Super Tonic Preparation

WARNING: Nothing here has been tested by the F.D.A.. Consult a health professional before using if you are pregnant, nursing or have a medical condition. Stop use immediatly if you experience any adverse reactions. So here we go. I have been waiting for today for a while now. What is so special about today? Why, its the New Moon of course! What does that mean? That means it’s tincture making day at the Wisdom house. In my quest of becoming a Master Herbalist I will be doing quite a few of these wonderful herbal formulas. Today the family and I put together an awesome herbal recipe that has been used since medieval times, possibly before. An amazingly simple yet extremely powerful remedy for colds, flues, sinus infections, sore throats, etc.. Some have called it the “cure for the common cold” others have said it might just be the “cure for everything”. Well that remains to be seen but the bottom line is that this stuff works! Well that is according to Dr. Schulze and his version of the formula. The great thing is that you can make this at home for less than prescription anti biotics and is not harmful to your body…it’s food! What you’ll need: Habanero Peppers (Organic) Garlic Bulbs (Organic) White Onions (Organic) Ginger Roots (Organic) Horseradish Roots (Organic) Apple Cider Vinegar (Bragg’s is best) Mason Jar NOTE: I could not find any habanero peppers this time around so I used jalepeno and serrano peppers. When you cannot find the exact ingredient do your best within the same family. What we are looking for here is the most capsicum we can get because it will help stimulate blood and lymphatic flow and get the other herbal compounds to the effected areas, so do your best. We want equal parts of each ingredient for this tincture. We went with 8.8 oz as that is how much the peppers weighed. So everything else was weighed out to 8.8 oz. Once we did a rough chop and deskinning of the garlic and onions, we went to fine chopping. You can do a much smaller preparation say 1oz or much larger 20 lbs! Just make sure they are all the same weight and you are good to go. Some people say to put the herbs into a food processor…but our food processor would liquify most of this…you want it finely chopped but not liquified. Once we had the consistency needed we then took the ingredients and mixed them into a bowl. Once everything was well mixed we filled up our mason jars about 3/4 of the way full. Next we added the apple cider vinegar…make sure you get the good organic stuff. We use Bragg’s with “The Mother”. We filled up the jar to cover the ingredients almost to the top. We want to leave some room because we will periodically be shaking the jars to mix them. With 8.8oz of each ingredient we were able to make three and 1/4 jars! What we want to do next is pack the jars into a brown paper bag fold the top down and then store it in a dark place. Periodically during the day we will take out the jars and shake them well to mix up the ingredients. So that...

In My Head

In My Head

Most of the artists I know are introverts. They are naturally reclusive and inside of their own head constantly. Most of my friends think of me as an extrovert because I am often loud and obnoxious. However, just because someone is loud, demonstrative and sometimes overbearing in public does not make them an extrovert. One of the easiest ways that I’ve learned to detect if someone is an extrovert, introvert or a combination of the two is to test them. It is a one question test: Do you feel drained after being around people or are you energized. Or visaversa, essentially the same question: Do you feel drained or energized after spending time alone. After all the personality tests I’ve taken these two variants of the same question nail it every time, at least for me. I am an introvert. I would rather be alone most of the time it energizes me, I need it. I like to create things and I am often inside of my head most of the time. When I get around people I become the “entertainer” and it is draining, I think for me in a good way. I really feel the need to perform either by teaching, playing music, running meetings, etc. Then after being so outward and in your face I shut down and I am inside myself. This can have a detrimental effect on ones family if not tempered. I can find myself rarely telling my wife or in some cases my kids what is going on in my head. Because after I have my conversation with myself I am…well…finished. Now the very people I love most in life are in the dark about me. Things that I need to make sure I am doing is communicating…..no really communicating with my family about who I am and they need to do the same. All of us in this family of ours are introverts and on some days hardly a word may be spoken between us as we, read, ponder, play music, clean, etc. It is kind of strange but the older I get and the older my kids get the more it is smacking me in the face. Time is short…share. Share your passion, your love, your gifts, your talents, your food and drink, share a story, a hug, a kiss. Share love. So you may not be an introvert. I get that. On the other hand how disconnected are you from the people around you? You may not even realize it. The more people I see with smart phones the dumber they seem to get. I am at a coffee shop with my wife last night for a date. I glance over to see a couple sitting next to us an attractive young girl and what seems to be her boyfriend or lover. She’s on her smart phone and he’s just starring at her. Not that, “oh you’re so cute and beautiful stare” it was the, “Hey shit head get off your phone I am right here beside you.” You may even be reading this on a “smart phone” in front of your loved one. You are lost in some vortex on a tiny screen and life is passing you by. Though many of the youth today may have been...

Cannabis Oil

Cannabis Oil

One of my most favorite smells in the world is the varying scents of the cannabis bud. It has been ever since I was introduced to it years ago. I am such a cannabis supporter that I tend to purchase most anything with the word hemp in it. Hemp granola, hemp guitar straps, hemp oil for salads, etc. I believe it is a miracle plant given to us for our use, literally by G-d, to be used and in some instances sanctified as holy. At one point in my life in researching the miraculous nature of cannabis I stumbled upon a certain woman’s writings. Sula Benet was the woman and her writings were from the 1930s. If you want to read a crash course in the writings of Moses and Marijuana check out the following link....

Spiritual Showers

Spiritual Showers

I have been doing hot/cold therapy showers every since I did my 30 day detox back in February of this year. It is one the best things you can do for your body to promote circulation. An amazing thing for your body for internal ailments, and as I’ve learned, emotional and spiritual afflictions as well. I must add a disclaimer however. Consult your physician before attempting any hot cold therapy, especially those with heart conditions. I am not a doctor! Now that the disclaimer is out of the way. Some holistic practitioners swear by hot cold therapy, some even above the herbs they tout. With the 30 day detox I did from Dr. Schulze (www.herbdoc.com) in his book he said doing his prescribed “cold sheet treatment” is like doing a 30 day detox…..and this is just a one night procedure. I haven’t done a cold sheet treatment, yet, but I do the suggested hot/cold therapy in the shower. The recommendation is as follows: While taking a nice, warm shower, turn up the hot water until it’s as hot as you can stand it, making sure the hot water is hitting the area that is blocked or injured. When you’ve had the hot water on the area for about a minute, turn it off completely so that you have straight, cold water hitting the area. Let the cold water hit the area for 15-30 seconds. Now, it will be a shock. That’s okay. If you need to shake – Shake! If you need to cry – Cry! If you need to scream – Scream! And if you need to pee yourself – Hey, you’re in the shower. I’m always leery of anyone who can do a hot and cold shower without letting out a squeak. Let it out! Once the area is thoroughly cold after about thirty seconds, turn the hot water back up slowly until the hot water is as hot as you can stand it and leave it on that area for a minute. Once that area is hot for a minute, turn the hot water off quickly and turn the cold water on fully. The point is to shock your body. Repeat the hot and cold seven times. In the morning end with cold to stimulate you and wake you up. In the evening, end with hot to sedate and relax you. The procedure will only take between 10 and 15 minutes, but you will feel like a new person when it’s over. You can repeat this Hot and Cold Shower Routine again the same day or do a partial one just applying hot and cold water directly to the affected area. -Dr. Schulze With a holistic mind set you are addressing issues from a number of perspectives. This is not allopathic healing the “one pill, one ill” mentality. This is holistic dealing with your whole being body, mind, soul. You see it has been taught by many healers in the past and present that different organs and systems in the body are linked to specific metal issues. For instance, your kidneys are related to fear issues, colon: letting go, liver: anger & resentment, etc. Do you have a problem in one of those areas it will more than likely be coupled with emotional issues from your...

I’m Growing My Fingernails

I’m Growing My Fingernails

So I’ve decided to grow my fingernails out. Why? To really dial in my flamenco and classical guitar styles. I really enjoy playing my little beater classical and I have aspirations to actually record an acoustic album sometime next year. If that happens or not still remains to be seen. However, I am growing out my fingernails. I’ve never grown my fingernails and in asking my wife if it would be weird she replied with, “I think it will be a little creepy”. Yeah, guys with long fingernails tend to look a little suspicious, but I’m already a little suspicious so I am okay with it. To take it to the next level I won’t be growing out my nails on both hands. No, just my right hand, my picking hand. The nails on my other hand need to stay short so that I can fret the strings. So yeah, creepy factor, raised! At any rate, I just started this process and it is bugging the shit out of me and my nails are microns longer than the tips of my fingers. This is going to be a long road. Not sure if I can do it, not even sure at this point that it is worth it. Time will tell. Why do it? Well when picking with your fingertips (skin) you get a muted sound. When picking with your nails it is brighter, an asset when playing a nylon string guitar. Why not just get finger picks? Because finger picks are annoying and I want to look a little more creepier than I already am. Ha ha ha. No, seriously, it is strange to be attempting this whole growing my nails out thing. In a way it is stretching me in a few ways. For one I will only use the nails when playing guitar but the length of my nails will always be with me, getting in the way of things, breaking, needing to be groomed, etc. Is it worth it? At this point I don’t know. It could be way more hassle than it is worth, but I am willing to try. Why not just use some Lee Press-On’s? Because that is lame, that is why, and kind of well um….lame. I want my own nails, it is a harder road to take but totally metal, er um…classical…that is if I can stick to it. I am sure typing will be a problem and scratching myself and others…hell, it already is. So what is the point to all of this? Try something new, improve your craft even a little and even if it might fail. Take a chance…do something different. It is good for you. That is all, have a great...

432hz Why It’s Important

432hz Why It’s Important

Earlier this year I started to listen to a lot of Native American Flute (NAF) players, the likes of Mary Youngblood. I’ve listened to NAF for years now and I’ve always loved it. My wife and I listen to a host of New Age type music, atmospheric and songs while we sleep. The NAF constantly spoke to me and it did something inside of me that no other music has really ever done. What it is I cannot explain but it is healing, reviving and emotional. “Music based on C=128hz (C note in concert A=432hz) will support humanity on its way towards spiritual freedom. The inner ear of the human being is built on C=128 hz” -Rudolph Steiner A guitar student of mine happened to have a NAF and I was planning on using the NAF on an upcoming GrimWolf album for an intro to a song. I asked if I could borrow it for a while to learn how to play. He happily let me borrow it. In the coming months I learned how to play and even recorded a few songs. Durring that time I was researching NAF and in a few different areas I was introduced what this article is about, 432hz tuning. You see the standard tuning, or concert pitch, is 440hz where the note A is at 440hz rather. When we tune our guitars, violins, tubas, etc. we are tuning to this pitch. I never really thought about it much it was just the standard and I tuned to it. In reading some of these articles, albeit some of them nutty and laden with nazi conspiracy theories (really), I decided to give it a try with my guitar. Immediately I could feel the difference was. Yes there was a sound change that I could hear but I actually felt it, inside of my body. This lead me from one article to the next and then to youtube videos. Then there was mention of the Chakras and healing with music and sound. Now if you know anything about Chakras you probably know of some new age nut job telling you about some celestial mojo. What you probably don’t know is that the Chakras are actually related to certain glands and organs in your body. You see, when certain frequencies are played it can vibrate those organs and glands and cause healing. What? Yeah, healing with sound in the...
